Fusheng Wang is a senior research scientist at Center for Comprehensive Informatics and Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Emory University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles in 2004, and his M.S. and B.S. in Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University, China, in 1997 and 1994 respectively. Prior to joining Emory University, he was a research scientist at Siemens Corporate Research from 2004-2009. His research interests include heterogeneous biomedical data management and integration, temporal and spatial data management, high performance data management systems, RFID and sensor data management, and data standardization. He is a senior member of the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE) for achievements in medical imaging informatics, data management and data standardization, and radio frequency identification technology.
Past projects include ArchIS temporal database system, Siemens RFID middleware, Siemens SciPortTM scientific data management platform, caBIG algorithm validation toolkit (AVT), and caBIG xService XML data integration system. He is currently leading the research and development of the Pathology Analytical Imaging Standards (PAIS) project to provide high-performance data management for large scale analyses for whole slide digital pathology datasets. Dr. Wang also establishes and teaches an interdisciplinary course “Advanced Database Systems”, a senior graduate course focusing on interdisciplinary technologies and research areas related to medical imaging informatics, translational research informatics and advanced database management systems.
Dr. Wang published more than fifty peer reviewed journal articles, conference papers and book chapters, in the areas of medical imaging informatics, RFID, data management and physics. He also holds three US patents.
